天助自助者 (god helps those who help themselves),同样地,机会属于时刻在准备的人。

chance:
He left and I missed my chance to say goodbye to him.
It was his only chance/opportunity of escape.
opportunity:
I used to love going out dancing, but I don't get much chance/opportunity now.
There were more opportunities for graduates last year.

I never miss a chance to play football.

She missed the chance of promotion when she turned down the job of assistant manager.
An ankle injury meant she missed the opportunity to run in the qualifying heat.

If you don't buy now, you may find that you've missed the boat.
There were tickets available for the match till last week, but you have missed the boat by waiting till today.
If you don't call the recruiter back right away, you're going to miss the boat.
When I was still unmarried at 30, my mother and grandmother both worried that I'd missed the boat.

miss:
The sale prices were too good to miss .
It was an opportunity not to be missed .
I miss hanging out with my friends from college.

miss out (on sth):

Because I was so sick last week, I missed out on the chance to see my sister while she was in town.

I missed out on last month's concert because I was out of town.
