1. prick

He pricked the balloon and burst it.

She got her finger pricked by a thorn.
2. prick
I'm going to give your finger a little prick with this needle.
At the same time she felt a prick on her neck.

习语 prick ears up 或 prick up ears 主要有两个意思,一是竖起耳朵,通常指马或狗,另一个是指人变得警觉然后开始倾耳细听,相当于句子 your ears prick up,例如:
She pricked up her ears when she heard her name being mentioned by the group chatting animatedly at the corner.
Be sure to prick your ears up if anything about the case is mentioned.
Jeff pricked his ears up when he heard his wife’s name being mentioned.
I can't help but prick my ears up if I hear someone say my name—even if they aren't talking about me.

Please listen carefully.
It's important for students to listen carefully during classes.
He had his audience listening attentively.
He always listens to the teachers attentively in class.

对应 listen 的两个短语动词 listen (out) for sth 和 listen up 也有类似留心听的意思,例如:
1. listen (out) for sth
Can you listen out for the doorbell?
Could you please turn down your music? I'm listening out for the pizza delivery guy.
Now, listen up! This is important.
OK, listen up, everyone. We only have three hours to complete this project, so let's get to work.

耳朵 ear 是倾听的主要器官,对应它的也有几个习语也可以表达类似的意思,如 be all ears 和 cock an ear at sth/sb 等等,例如:
1. be all ears
Okay, tell me what the problem is. I'm all ears.
She had expected him to be all ears when she told him about her wedding plans.
2. cock an ear at sth/sb
You need to cock an ear at your teacher when you're in class so that you know what your homework assignments are.

1. thorn [θɔːn]
2. animatedly  [ˈænɪmeɪtɪdli]
