The Yuanxiao Festival falls on the 15th day of the first Chinese lunar month which is related to the Spring Festival. In the ancient time, people began preparing for the Spring Festival 20 days before it came.
However, the Yuanxiao Festival marks the end of the New Year celebrations. And after it, everything returns to normal.
In Chinese, Yuan literally means first, while Xiao refers to night which is the first time when we see the full moon in the New year. It is traditionally a time for family reunion.
The most prominent activity of the Yuanxiao Festival is the display of all types of beautiful lanterns. So the occasion is also called the Lantern Festival.

In China, different areas have different customs, but "Eat" is an everlasting topic in every festival. Some people eat Tnagyuan while others have Yuanxiao.
Though they look like each other, they are made from different ways. Tangyuan is like dumplings while Yuanxiao is made by rolling the stuffing in the powders.
