【结构分析】
1. 句子为多重复合句。主句主干为He adds humbly that…其中that引导宾语从句。
2. that引导的宾语从句的主干为 he was superior to the common run of men;
3. 并列的介词短语 “in noticing things”和“in observing them carefully”在宾语从句中作状语，
4. Which引导的定语丛句修饰things，由于从句不长，可采用前置译法，译为“的”结构。
