if we were two
we would no longer be lonely
I have thought the world
would be better that way, and warmer,
things more humane
and humans
more intimate

如果是两个人
我们就不会再孤独

The original trust destroyed
But I don’t know by which betrayal
That I did not commit to you
Nor you, to me
Afterward, we call for each other in vain
It doesn’t help to say
“I am not afraid”

The Door
She, whom I loved
15 years ago, she I’m
Thinking of now
Only with feelings of guilt
Such a sad
Story of emotions and
Privations,
I wanted to leave behind
Like a wall for the shadows
Behind which, flickering, the lights shine
Of figures long past
I knew that you would be able
To lead me out of this world
Of shadows
And privations
Into another, better world
Of new thoughts and deeds
But perhaps the sun
Blinded you
Which shone through the door
That I had opened for us
Just a little
And thus, you
Closed the door again
But wasn’t it you
Who had
Opened the door –
though only slightly –
before I did?
