নিরবিচ্ছিন্ন ভাবে, প্রবাহিত হয় সময়ের স্রোত,
যদিও আমার ইচ্ছে হয় এটা যেন বন্ধ হয়
ঠিক যেন ক্যামেরার লেন্সে আটকে পড়া ছবির মত
কারণ বৃক্ষের ফলের মতো মূল্যবান জীবন ।
ঠিক যেন রাতের বেলায় উদীয়মান চাঁদ,
ঠিক যেমন তুমি আমার ভালোবাসা ।
যা কিছুই হোক না কেন, যেখানেই থাকো না তুমি,
থাকবে তুমি আমার হৃদয় মাঝারে ।
কারণ আমি তোমার প্রেমে মগ্ন, আমার পৃথিবী যে নেই

IHRAF 2020 International Fellow
Bangladeshi poet and activist Tabassum Tahmina Shagufta Hussein has been named the IHRAF 2020 International Fellow, and will be providing poems, essays, outreach and perspective for us over the next year. Tabassum.Tahmina. Shagufta Hussein was born in Chittagong, Bangladesh. She lives in Dhaka Bangladesh now. She was faculty in Daffodil International University, State University of Bangladesh and South East University in Dhaka. She is a member of the Governing Body, Mirsarai College, Chittagong. Her poems have appeared in journals and collections around the world. She writes regular weekly columns for Different Truths Publications featuring humanitarian issues.

The light of dawn
erases the traces of the night.
Relentlessly, time goes on flowing,
although I wish it would stop
like a picture fixed by the camera’s lens
because as valuable like fruit in a tree is life.
Like the moon ascending at night,
so you are, my love.
Whatever happens, wherever you are,
I keep you in my heart.
Since I am in love with you, my world has changed
for two hearts found a home of tenderness.
Sunrays play on the strings of love
lighting up the dawn of hope.
