Some patterns will list a difficulty level to help guide prospective knitters into the amount of knitting knowledge they may need to complete the project.

Though many knitters may only feel comfortable in choosing a pattern that use techniques from within their skill set,it is important to remember that progression only come from stepping outside the comfortable zone in order to learn new things.

Here are the standard skill level icons developed by the Craft Yarn Council.

Each of these icons，which appear with knitting patterns in books，magazines，leaflets，on yarn labels or on websites，is a horizontal bar divided into four sections.

1、Beginner：Project for first-time knitter s using basic knit and purl stitches.Minimal shaping.
起始级：给会使用基础的上下针的初学者的作品。最小的形状变化。
2、Easy:Projects using basic stitches,repetitive stitch patterns,simple colour changes,and simple shaping and finishing.
简单级：使用基础针法重复花型，简单颜色变化，简单塑形和收针的作品。
3、Intermediate:Project with a variety of stitches，such as basic cables and laces,simple intarsia,double-point needles and knitting in round techniques,mid-level shaping and finishing.

4、Experienced:Project using advanced techniques and stitches,such as short rows,Fair Isle,more intricate intarsia,cables,lace patterns,and numerous colour changes.
