Hi there. I am Miss Janice, an educator and lover of life! I enjoyed my 21 years in China, my 38 years as an educator, and I am back in the US now sharing my US experiences with you.Normally in the US I talk to everyone about how convenient life was to live in Shanghai. How I could have a Starbucks in 30 minutes delivered wherever I was in the city, or how my groceries came directly to my door. How easy and quick it was to order a DiDi, and how convenient it was to use the subway. Today I had an amazing “convenience” experience in Boise that I would love to share with you!!!This experience occurred at my brother’s home. My brother is in the process of building a home, and everything is a mess inside as they have begun packing and downsizing. On top of that, I am getting ready to move as well, so my things are everywhere too. Life is a bit busy. They have two dogs who are part of their family: Rocky and Patch. Rocky is a Golden Retriever and Patch is an English Setter. They both needed their nails clipped, and Rocky needed his ears checked. However, Rocky is now over 12 years old, and he has arthritis. My brother has made it easy for him to get up and down the stairs going outside, but getting in to a car is almost impossible for him, and as he is a big dog it is so difficult to lift him up. So, my sister-in-law, Teresa, arranged for a local Vet-on-wheels, or Mobile Pet Medical Care, to come to the house. The service was started in the 70’s by a vet in Boise, Dr Linder, to help assist families with visual problems, who didn’t drive, who were older, those whose dogs were unable to get to a clinic, and especially to help those families with service dogs. Service dogs are the ones that assist their humans with their health and living issues. The vet who came and her assistant were both young, vibrant women, each with 2 years of experience, and you could tell how much they loved being with the animals. You could also see instantly that the two dogs loved them! For Patch, a young dog, he was worried at first but then quickly came around. They were from Linder Pet Clinic, and their cheerful personalities really put everything at ease. It just took them moments to clip the nails, to check the ears, and to make suggestions. For Rocky, he is an older dog and he slips and slides on the beautiful hardwood floors, so they suggested toe grips for his back paws. They didn’t have the right size in their van, but we will order them today online. For his ears they had the right medicine in the van, and that was sooooo convenient! Normally the pets would go into their vans to be seen, as it is set up inside like a clinic, but as Rocky had arthritis, they came in to see him. So sweet, so caring, and so professional! The price was $65, around 400 rmb. Not too pricey, and considering the house call, very convenient!!!! Six months ago they come to clean the dog’s teeth and clip their nails.I was thinking as they were here how convenient this type of service would be in Shanghai, as well. With pets being so BELOVED there, and the population being so busy, this might be something interesting for even a pet grooming company to do. The problem, of course, would be that in many compounds it is often difficult to find space to park. However, the concept would be welcomed with open arms by pet owners, and it would truly be something `wonderful for the community.I love the fact that this business was totally organic; it came about out of a real community need, it has helped provide a solution to a real problem, and it was based on a love of taking care of pets. What a smart Vet to do this for his community!!!I wish you all a beautiful day, full of new adventures. Please come join me next week as I share my US experiences with you. Have a super week, and smile!本专栏音频同步更新至喜马拉雅APP。使用喜马拉雅APP聆听的用户,每一个故事可以重复播放。
