True to his word, Shang Yang gave the man 50 gold pieces. 商鞅说话算话,给了那人50个金币。
How do I know he will be true to his word? 我们知道他会信守诺言的呢?
They were as good as their word and stayed away. 他们信守诺言,离得远远的。
They believed he was a man of his word. 他们相信他是一个说话算话的人。

depend on 依靠;依赖;取决于
My father didn't mind whom I married, so long as I could stand on my own two feet and wasn’t dependent on my husband. 只要我能自食其力,不依赖自己的丈夫,嫁给谁我的父亲倒是并不在意。
How much it costs depends on how much you buy. 价钱取决于你买多买少。

get carried away 飘飘然,得意忘形
He needs to keep his feet on the ground and not get carried away. 他需要脚踏实地,不能飘飘然。
take up 占用,花费(时间、精力等)
Simon failed the exam again because computer games took up too much of his time. 西蒙又考砸了,因为电脑游戏占用了他太多时间。
John isn't happy today. Let's go and cheer him up.
Lily failed the match. She must be very sad. Let's go to help raise her spirits.
I think he misses her terribly. You might cheer him up. 我估计他是太想念她了。也许你可以让他打起精神来。
