[第331次听写]Family和复数Families到底有没有区别？

And yet=表示转折
and but不能连用
and yet可以连用, 很常见
You keep saying you want to do it, and yet you never actually do it.

注意got这里不是过去式, 而是美式口语中用got表示have
比如I got a question=I have a question
所以We got a lot of family coming in=We have a lot of family coming in

have sb do sth vs have sb doing sth
这2个搭配都是正确的, 意思略有区别
I’ll have Tom call you(让某人去做某事)
We have tourists coming in from all over the world.(描述一种状态)
假如说成have Tom calling you和have tourists come in, 意思就不太对了, 你读一读, 体会一下~

为什么a lot of后边跟family而不是families?
family表示家人的概念时一般做不可数
比如The support of family and friends is vital.
而families一般表示多个家庭
比如families with young children(有小孩子的那些家庭)

注意come in这个词, 我们经常见到的是表示”请进”
像这样把它放在一个句子里使用可能见的比较少
比如News is coming in of a serious plane crash in Pennsylvania.
