A, A solitary bone lesion with a gradual zone of transition between it and the normal bone and complete destruction of the cortex (solid white arrow) is called a geographic lesion.
B, Several ill-defined lytic lesions (solid white arrows) with indistinct margins imply a more aggressive malignancy. This is called a moth-eaten pattern.
C, A close-up of the femur shows innumerable, small, irregular holes in the bone (white circle) called a permeative pattern. Permeative lesions are called round cell lesions for the shape of the cells that produce them. Such lesions include Ewing sarcoma, neuroblastoma, myeloma, and leukemia.
Notes:
1.permeative /'pɜːmɪeɪt/ adj. 穿凿样的
2.neuroblastoma /ˌnjuərəublæs'təumə/ n. 神经细胞瘤
