一、有生命的：'s

teacher’office，Jim's basketball，students’books，the cats' paws

Tom and Dave’s(共同的)，Lucy’s and Lily’s(各自的)，

· 有时，也可用于无生命的东西，如用于表时间或距离、国家和城市以及组织机构、某些集合名词、度量衡及价值名词、天体、某些固定表达的名词后：

tomorrow's weather，Where're today's papers？

America's policy，the city''s development

the majority's view，the government's policy，the airport's waiting hall，

the newspaper's cover story

a mile's distance，one pound's value

the moon's rays，the earth's surface

· 表示地点名词如诊所、店铺或某人的家等，其名词所有格后的被修饰语常常省略。如：

I was at my aunt's (home) yesterday afternoon.

She has gone to the hairdresser's (shop).

· 名词所有格所修饰的词，如果前面已经提到过，往往可省略，以免重复。
