Patrick Higgins

Patrick Higgins(ins ID: totallyawesome_me),00后MOC作者,20岁,来自美国东南部的阿拉巴马州。

我最喜欢的乐高套装是2006年的原版蝙蝠翼(注释:7782 LEGO Batman The Batwing The Joker's Aerial Assault 蝙蝠翼vs乔克儿)。

1. How and when did you get interest in Lego and brick creation?
I’ve always been interested in Lego building. I got my first Lego set when I was 5 years old and have been hooked since.

2. What hobbies do you have in your spare time? Have you ever created a LEGO MOC piece that you are particularly proud of?
I’d say that Lego is my spare time hobby, but I also enjoy playing games with friends. I have created several MOCs that I am proud of, such as the Pieces of Cinema and Arkham Asylum.

3. How does LEGO fit into your daily life now? Is it as a full-time main job?

I build new things with Lego whenever I have time. College and other responsibilities often take up all of my time, but I always enjoy taking a break from it all and building something new.

4. What is your favorite LEGO theme and official set? Why?
My favorite Lego set is the original Batwing from 2006. It was my first set ever and I still have it today.

5. What is your favorite brick media or event? Why?

I’ve been to an event called Brickfair several times. It’s an awesome exhibition where myself and many other creators get to display what we’ve been working on.

6. Who is the most impressed MOCer in your mind (Official LEGO designer or fan designer)? Why?
One of my good friends in the Lego community is Martin Harris (@bricksnaps) and he is an excellent builder.

7. What is the biggest challenge you have to create the piece of cinema? Is there any part difficult to recreate?
Each individual Piece of Cinema presents its own challenges. Sometimes the hardest part is selecting one specific scene to recreate. Sometimes finding the right parts is the most challenging. Sometimes finding inspiration is the hardest part.

8. How many pieces of brick have you used for average of the series? What are your purchasing approaches for these bricks?
I have no idea how many parts I’ve used in pieces of cinema. Whenever I need parts I go to Bricklink, an excellent online Lego selling website.
- One more follow up question about the 8th, this question just ask the general piece number range of this series. Could you please estimate a range for me?
- Per build, I’d estimate about 300-400 parts

9. What software do you use for designing the digit models before building them up physically?
I personally don’t use any software to design my models, but many builders use a program called stud.io, a free lego designer program.

10. In your physical implementation of the models, how do you get your customized sticker or printed brick?
I have only ever used one custom sticker in Pieces of Cinema, and it is found on my Jurassic Park build. My mother actually made it for me using her crafting skills.

11. If you could talk to yourself before starting the piece of cinema project, what would you tell him? What do you wish you had known?

I’d tell myself to plan ahead and have the full list of movies I wanted to include before I started.

12. Do you have plans to create other works in the future? If so, can you give us a hint as to what that might be?

My next build is actually a pretty big one, and also one I’ve been keeping pretty secret. One thing I can say about it is that it is a recreation of a ride at Walt Disney World

13. Are there any Chinese MOC designers and works that impress you? Is there any specific theme or topic of brick you would like to see from Chinese or other cultures?
Most of the MOCs I see are from shows like Brickfair and here on Instagram. Unfortunately Brickfair doesn’t attract many international builders, so I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting any. However I know that there are so many talented builders out there and I always love seeing their work.

14. What would you like to tell our readers in the Chinese AFOL communities?
Be creative! Build the things you enjoy, and then share those creations with the world!
