There are a lot of people who paint but there are few who are good at painting. However, Chen Yingjie is one of who can develop painting to a higher level that most can’t get to it. Please take easy and slow down, you probably find surprise when you meet with the derelict and broken wall with only one piece or wildness piece. The surprise is the painting that ChenYingjie painted which combined the steadiness and attractiveness of Chinese paintings with freeness and ebullience of graffiti perfectly.

画画的人很多，会画画的人不多，但是把画画提升到另一个层面的人并不多。而陈英杰就是其中一个。当你路过断壁残垣的时候，请放轻松放慢脚步，也许你会在某一块或者某一片墙上发现陈英杰的中国画的沉稳大气与涂鸦文化的洒脱结合起来。

Chen Yingjie, called himself Hua Tunan, a member of the post-90s who was born and raised in Lecong County, Shunde District, Guangdong Province. He combined the Chinese traditional ink painting with the graffiti overseas and finally his unique painting style came into being which is called Chinese ink-splashing graffiti that have stricken out a new line for himself. His artworks are being finished and completed at a time without reprocessing. His every painting experience is distinctive that those are impossible to replicate.

陈英杰，自称画图男，90后，广东顺德乐从人。他将中国水墨画与国外涂鸦，形成自己的风格----泼墨涂鸦，独树一帜，自成一家。他的创作从不会构思和起草，所有作品都是一次完成、绝不返工的。每次画作全都是独一无二的体验，都不可能复制。

Hua Tunan’s Amazing Artworks

Art is a huge part of my life, it’s part of my daily routine. It’s part of my daily life, I think of it as food, I can’t live without it. Where I was four years old, I was very interested in painting, my dad taught me how to draw and paint. He would hold my and teach me how to write and paint. My dad started teaching me traditional Chinese ink style. In high school went to Singapore to study more. There I started to get into and learn more street art and graffiti. I was inspired by all the colorful styles. One year after being in Singapore, I went back to China and got a studio. Then I started to explore how I could combine eastern artwork and western artwork. I found a way to combine the Chinese traditional ink style with the graffiti style, to make my style. (Video Subtitles)

Art making is a particularly important part of my life. And art making to me is just what food to common people which they can’t live without. When I was four, my father started to teach me Chinese traditional ink painting and calligraphy step by step. He also taught me Chinese philosophy and ink painting. He is my enlightenment teacher who inspired me to create the drawings. I didn’t learn anything about graffiti and street art until I went to study in Singapore.There are wild and unrestrained compositions and elements in street artworks that attracted me. After studying abroad for one year, I returned back to my hometown and began promoting my studio and united the Chinese traditional ink painting with the western graffiti together. And I start out on a way to explore the newly artworks since then. (Version of CJJ)

艺术创作对我来讲是我生命中的一部分，就像粮食一样，是每天都需要的。在我4岁的时候，我的爸爸就手把手教我学习中国传统的水墨和书法。爸爸是启发我创作绘画的启蒙老师。他教我学习中国的哲学和水墨。直到我去新加坡留学的时候，我才开始去学习,去接触涂鸦和街头艺术。街头上面很奔放的构图和元素。在新加坡留学一年之后我回到国内，就开始组办我的工作室，将中国传统的水墨和西方的涂鸦结合到一起。我开始不断探索一些新的东方同西方结合的作品。

I was born and raised in Foshan, China. This is my first time in the U.S. and Chicago and my first solo show overseas. The shows are a way for me to share my story, and for me to hear what other people think of my work. I have prepared for this show for two years. Through this exhibition I hope the viewers will respect life on earth. Every animal has its uniqueness and its own story. (Video Subtitles)

I was born in Foshan, China. It is my first time to hold a solo painting exhibition. As well, I am a newcomer here. I think I can share my story via the show. And I can also get a knowledge of others’ opinions towards my artworks. It takes two years to make preparations for the show. 我出生在中国的佛山，这是我第一次来美国芝加哥办画展，也是我第一次来到这个城市。我觉得举办这个展览可以分享我的故事，也可以听到不同的人对我作品的看法。整个展览筹备了两年，我希望可以通过“大地之灵”这个展览向观众传达（一个信息）不同的动物有不同的故事，也有不同的一面。

I hope this show will encourage the viewers to protect them, like them and respect them. Different people have different opinions on a single piece of artwork. Some people, when they see the artwork they feel full of power. They will put themselves into the artwork. Then there are viewers who will feel calm. They will try to relate their experiences with the paintings. Then they will share their feelings with me. Their encouragement is my biggest motivation to keep creating more artwork. Everyone develops a sense of protecting animals, appreciating animals and respecting animals is my expectation via the show. As different people own different views. Some probably feel full of power when they see one artwork. At the meanwhile, others find it very silent. And they interpret the artworks just like they ware in the scene. It is my largest harvest that the audience share me their feelings and encourage me to do further art creating after viewing. It is the audience who inspire me a lot during the exhibit. 我希望这个展览可以让大家有一种保护动物、欣赏动物、尊重动物的意识。一个理解。不同的观众对不同的作品有不同的看法，有的观众当他看到这个作品的时候，他可能会感到很有力量, 他将自己代入这个画面中。也有的观众他看到某件作品的时候,他觉得很安静。他会将自己带入到这个画面里边去感受。他们会将这些感受说给我听，鼓励我，这个是我最大的收获。他们鼓励我进行下一步的创作。让我觉得他们在这次画展中，给了我很大的鼓励。

Before the show, I went to Chinatown to create a mural on a 10-meter tall. I was very honored to be given a space in the U.S. In this piece, I used four colors to represent four seasons. There’s an ink dragon flying from spring to winner representing the Chinese people working hard year around all over the world. Art is part ofme and my life. I’ve never thought about not being an artist. I’ve always wanted to create art. (Video Subtitles)

Before the show, I went to create a mural on a large wall of about 10 meters tall in Chinatown. I am very honored to come to America to hold my show this time. For this artwork, I chose four colors to represent four seasons. There is an ink Chinese dragon flying from spring to winter standing for the Chinese people who are pioneering with hard working in various places all over the word. Art making is a particularly important part of my life. And I believe that I only belong to art and art creation at all times.

在举办这个画展之前，我在唐人街一面很大的约10米长的墙上进行创作，我觉得很荣幸这次来到美国办展，(可以收到同仁的)。这幅作品，我创作了春夏秋冬四季不同的颜色，用一条水墨龙去贯穿整个画面。它象征着中国龙、中国人游走在世界不同的地方艰苦创业。艺术创作对我来讲，艺术创作是我生命中很重要的一部分。但我会一直觉得，我只属于创作，我只属于艺术。
