今天分享一首面包乐队（Bread）的《Everything I Own》。
今天来首面包乐队的歌曲，温暖的一首。这首歌收录在1972年的专辑《Baby I’m-a Want You》中。20世纪70年代主宰AM收音机的柔和声音的模板就是从这张专辑开始的。面包乐队出色的构建了坚固的旋律，加上录音室专业人员的巧妙演奏，以及来自洛杉矶的最佳和声，经受住了时间的考验，完成了这样优秀的专辑。专辑中有四首在当时排名前40的热门歌曲。可见专辑的质量。今天推荐的歌曲也在榜单前40中。而且更神奇的是这首歌的翻唱版本也都登上了排行榜。1974年牙买加歌手 Ken Booth录制了流行的雷鬼翻唱版本，该版本在英国排行榜上名列榜首。只不过Booth唱的歌词是Anything I Own，而不是“Everything”，但保留了原来的歌名。1987年，Boy George录制了他的电子舞曲流行版本，这次演唱的是“Everything”而不是“Anything”，而这首歌再次登上英国排行榜榜首。可见歌曲的硬实力。
这首歌的作者是David Gates。看起来像是一首情歌，但根据乔恩·库特纳(Jon Kutner)和斯宾塞·利(Spencer Leigh)合著的《英国1000首热门歌曲》一书，在 David Gates父亲的葬礼上，一位朋友把 David Gates拉到一边说，“你爸爸为你所做的事感到非常骄傲。”他回答说:“在我成功的路上也少不了他，因为他对我的影响最大。所以我决定写下并录制关于他的一切。如果你听到这句话，'You sheltered me from harm, kept me warm, gave my life to me, set me free(你保护我不受伤害，给我温暖，给我生命，给我自由)，’这说明了一切。”因此这首歌实际是写给父亲的。
