It is the accumulation of merit and virtue behind 'Luck'

Below are the insights enlightened from Chapter 44:
6. Although fame, fortune and wealth are good, they are all things outside the body and not worth the effort and sacrifice of one's life. This kind of behavior is to put the cart before the horse, and the person is loosing his original heart. Finally he is bound to get confusion and hardship. It is an extremely powerful practice to keep a sense of proportion and balance.
7. Attaching importance to the body, cherishing the mind, and upholding virtue are the true core of a life of solidity, happiness and peace. Therefore, if we are vigilant against the expansion of our desires, we will not be enslaved by external objects and suffer humiliation; if we know not to overdo it, we will not be devastated by external objects and incur misfortune.
8. Laozi's idea of 'respecting the lives and valuing oneself' is based on respect for oneself and all lives, not living on the run; it is about finding one's true self, not on the illusion of egoic desires. The true way to preserve life lies in the accumulation of virtue and the pursuit of the Taoism: the accumulation of virtue can preserve life, and the pursuit of the Taoism can sublimate the life.
9. The so-called 'lucky' things in life have the accumulation of merit and virtue over a lifetime behind them; the 'unlucky' things in life have the cause of perverse actions over a lifetime within them. The fundamental law of the universe is balance, and cause and effect is the most obvious expression of balance.
10. Knowing enough is the only way to know how to stop - everyone can only live a life that matches their virtue. Otherwise, the more things one holds on to, the narrower the space for energy to operate in one's life. If the energy channels are all blocked, how can people not perish?
