1 the concrete jungle 水泥丛林

如：A number of cities are now concrete jungles. 很多城市都成了水泥丛林。

2 highways 高速公路

如：Everywhere you look there are highways and skyscrapers. 高速公路和摩天大楼随处可见。

3 skycrapers 摩天大厦

如：I'm quite into the glass-faced skyscrapers in my city.我很喜欢我家乡的玻璃外观的摩天大厦。

4 live hand to mouth 勉强糊口

如：I'm living hand to mouth. 我现在勉强糊口。

5 has increased two or threefold 增长了两三倍

如：With all the migrants coming to cities, rent has increased two or threefold. 随着外来人口的涌入，房租增长了两三倍。

6 get out of hand 失去控制

如：General cost of living is getting out of hand. 一般生活成本急速增长。

7 isn't as good as it was in the past 不如从前

如：The quality of living isn't as good as it was in the past. 生活质量不如从前。（所有同学想拿高分，必须要做个心机boy/girl, 在这里我用了两个时态的混合。我知道你会过去时态，那你倒是用呀！！当你想拿高分，想方设法在一句话当中用两个以上时态的混合，为什么有学生能拿8.5的口语，人家part2 用了十多种时态~你还在用现在时？搓衣板已备好）
