Nigel is our new next-door neighbour. He's a pilot.
He was in the R.A.F.
He will fly to New York next month.
The month after next he will fly to Tokyo.
At the moment, he's in Madrid. He flew to Spain a week ago.
He will return to London the week after next.
He's only forty-one years old, and he has already been to nearly every country in the world.
Nigel is a very lucky man. But his wife isn't very lucky. She usually stays at home!

fly
【源】
直接源自古英语的fleogan，意为“飞，飞虫”。
【音】
[flaɪ]
【义】
fly既可以用作名词，也可以用作动词。
当用作名词时，主要表示“苍蝇”。如：
A cloud of flies hum in the air.一群苍蝇发出嗡嗡声。
当用作动词时，主要表示“飞行；驾驶；放飞”。如：
The plane flew low, nearly skimming the sea.那架飞机飞得很低，几乎贴近海面。He flew a bomber during the war.他在战时驾驶轰炸机。The boys are flying kites.孩子们在放风筝。
注意：当fly用作动词时，它的过去式和过去分词分别为flew和flown。
