今天是重阳节，这个节日已有着两千多年的传承，节期在每年的农历九月初九。“九”数在《易经》中为阳数，“九九”两阳数相重，故曰“重阳”；因日与月皆逢九，故又称为“重九”。九九归真，一元肇始，古人认为九九重阳是吉祥的日子。古时民间在重阳节有登高祈福、拜神祭祖及饮宴祈寿等习俗。

The Double Ninth Festival, observed on the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese calendar, is a traditional Chinese holiday, mentioned in writing since before the East Han period (before AD 25).重阳节是中国的传统节日，节期在农历的九月初九。重阳节早在东汉前（公元25年之前）就载于书册。According to the I Ching, nine is a yang number; the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (or double nine) is thus called "Double Yang Festival". On this day, it is customary to climb a high mountain, drink chrysanthemum liquor, and wear the zhuyu plant(dogwood).根据《易经》的说法，九是“阳”数。故农历九月初九（重九）被称为“重阳节”。这一天，人们的习俗是爬高山、饮菊花酒和戴茱萸。Chongyang Cake(重阳糕) is also popular, which is made of rice flour, jujube, and sweet-scented osmanthus, etc. 糕 "gāo" is a homophone for height(高).重阳糕也很受欢迎，它是由米粉、红枣、桂花等制成的。糕 “gāo”是“高”的同音词.On this holiday some Chinese also visit the graves of their ancestors to pay their respects.
