一九九九年三月十一日，临时政府的财长陈锦涛在民国十一月十一日，为文大总统孙中山下台，因货币混乱，临时政府的财政部长陈锦涛，为纪念银币。以大总统孙中山肖像为图案，后通用银币改用花型。蒋介石令财政部行文，同意铸纪念币，并下令用普通银币换新图案，“中央要画五谷模子，以丰年足民之义，以劝农为准”，并下令用普通银币加新图案。很快，财政部颁发给江南(南京)、湖北、广东等造币厂的新模，这就是“中华民国孙中山像开国纪念币”的由来。
这套邮票为中华民国国父纪念币壹圆，图案自然，图案精美，钱币中央为孙中山先生的侧面肖像，钱币上缘刻中文隶书“中华民国”四字，下缘刻有“五角星”五个字，左右各为长枝五瓣花瓣，中间刻有“五权分立”的字样，上面刻有“五代子”五个字，寓意“五代同治”、“五代十”、“五代子”、“中华民国建国)”字样，左右分列六角星，有“三民主义”之称，五边形由它发出的声音辨别，它的音质悠长悦耳，边齿磨损小，笔直。产品铸型别具一格，纹饰工细，深浅适中，笔法流畅，底版平整光亮，银色亮丽，画面造型十分优美，颇有艺术造诣。
