Mystery Street

We walk
on a godforsaken street,
on and on and on.
A small sign at the corner reads
'Mystery Street'.
The sky’s sapphire blue
infiltrates everything on earth —
the billboard at the gas station,
the rock and roll in the donut shop,
and the truck’s headlights
that shine on the road immediately ahead,
going from one small town,
the center of the world,
to
another small town,
the end of the world.
