start out后边常见的搭配是跟as, 或者跟形容词, 原句是是跟了名词a total nobody, 这个用法不是很常见
那么模仿原句, 我们就可以说He started out a poor kid from a shoemaking family.

a total nobody=完全的一个无无名小卒
started out a total nobody意思就是说他最开始也是从一个无名小卒起步的
