减肥”用英语怎么说？真不是lose fat

一年快要结束了，很多人的理想越来越“骨感”，现实却越来越“丰满”，看着身上变多的肉肉，欲言又止！现代人的苦恼莫过于“减肥”，那么问题来了，“减肥”用英语该怎么说呢？

① lose weight

这个非常好理解，lose=失去，weight=重量，合起来就是“减肥”啦。

在美剧《摩登家庭》中，Mitchell描述Cameron时，就用到了这个表达：

Oh, every time. Every time he loses weight, he gets rid of his big pants.  And then when he puts the weight back on, he has to buy them all new again.

他老是这样，每次减肥，都把大号裤子扔了。体重反弹之后，他又去买新裤子。

② on a diet

这个表达也是“减肥”的意思，生活中经常会用到~

在美剧《生活大爆炸》中，Howard和Raj对话时，就用到了这个表达：

Howard: I'm sorry, I've been kind of snippy lately. It's probably this stupid diet I'm on.

Raj: Why are you on a diet?

Howard: I've put on a couple pounds. Had to buy these pants in the men's section.

-对不起，最近我有些暴躁，可能因为我在减肥。

-你为什么要减肥？

-我胖了几磅，都得到成年男装区买裤子了。

③ slim down

slim作为形容词时表示“苗条的”，作为动词时可以表示“使…体重减轻”，因此slim down也表示“减肥”。

在美剧《破产姐妹》中，Max觉得一个顾客太胖了，于是这个顾客说道：

We're trying to get in shape. Plus my girlfriend wants me to slim down so we can sit on the same side of the plane when we travel.

我们想有个好体型，而且我的女朋友也想我减肥。这样在旅行一起坐飞机时  她才能跟我坐同一排。
