豆分五色和盐煮，

王瓜（学名：Trichosanthes cucumeroides）：葫芦科，栝楼属多年生草质藤本植物。

Among blooms, red or purple, the wheat sings a summer song.

Cucumeroides and sow thistles are fresh in the season all along.

Beans collected, yellow, green, red, brown and black, boiled with salt.

Dragonflies fly merrily over lotus leaves in throngs.

立夏 Beginning of Summer

立夏是二十四节气中的第7个节气，表示夏季的开始。

太阳到达黄经45°时立夏节气开始，60°时结束，对应的公历为5月5日至5月21日。该节气尤指太阳位于黄经45°当天。立夏三候为蝼蝈鸣；蚯蚓出；王瓜生。

Lixia is the 7th solar term according to the traditional East Asian calendars, which divide a year into 24 solar terms (節氣). It signifies the beginning of summer in East Asian cultures.

It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 45° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 60°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 45°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around May 5 and ends around May 21.

Each solar term can be divided into 3 pentads (候), namely the first pentad (初候), the second pentad (次候) and the last pentad (末候). Pentads in Lixia include:

The first pentad: crickets sing;

The secondpentad: earthworms appear;

The third pentad: Trichosanthes cucumeroides blooms.
