New school是新学校吗，那old school就是旧学校？虽然在“中式英语”中会看到这两个意思，但是老外一般都不这么理解。

可以稍微联想一下，新学校肯定是最近建立的，比较现代化的；老学校应该是历史悠久的，复古的。这样就可以得出这两个短语的真正意思。

很多人知道school是学校，但是很少注意到，school有动词词性，译为锻炼、约束、指导等；

In school  adv.在求学

In school 跟school in 意思完全不同，in the school才能翻译成“在学校里面”，表示具体的某一个空间之内。

而in school表达一种抽象的说法，学生正在求学/正在学校接受教育。

例1：The teacher is very attentive to school in students to do homework, and the students make rapid progres.

老师很用心地指导学生写作业，学生们进步很快。

例2：Mary is eight years old and has been in school for two years.

玛丽今年8岁，已经求学两年了。

简要辨析：

In school表示“正在接受某种教育或学习某个课程的过程中，通常表达为“（在）上学”，而不是在“具体的校园里”。

In the school在学校的某一个具体的建筑物里。比如in the school canteen 在学校的食堂里。

At school 中的at 表达的是“整个校园的含义，涵盖学校的所有地方。在这个校园内所做的任何活动都可以用“at school”表达。

对于学生而言，最让他们担忧的事情之一就是“分数”。考试不及格或者学分不够，足以让她们抓心挠肺。

正所谓旧的不去新的不来，新的学期努力学习就是进步。

那么，“旧的不去新的不来”用英语怎么说呢？

字面意思是脱离旧的，与新的为伍，再稍微引申一下，就可得出“辞旧迎新”、“旧的不去新的不来”等寓意。
