offer
【源】
直接源自古英语的ofrian；最初源自拉丁语的offerre，意为“展示，馈赠”。
【音】
['ɒfə(r)]
【义】
offer常用作动词，表示“提供；提议”。如：
He offered me some tickets.他给了我几张票。The teacher offered a few ideas to improve the plan.老师提出了几点改进计划的意见。
offer也常用作名词，表示“提议；出价”。如：
He will probably refuse the offer.他很可能会拒绝这一提议。The offer was too high and was somewhat ridiculous.这个出价太高了，显得有些荒谬。

注意句中的grow a beard表示“蓄胡子”，而shave it off则表示“刮胡子”。
注意区分beard、moustache、goatee。都表示“胡子”，其区别为：
