Once there was a witch who wanted to make pumpkin pie. So she planted a pumpkin seed. She weeded and watered, and after a while a sprout poked through. And then a pumpkin grew. And it grew. And it grew. And then it grew some more.
从前有一个女巫，她想要烤南瓜派。于是，她种下了一颗南瓜种子。她除草、浇水，没过多久，一棵南瓜苗冒出了头。接着，一颗南瓜长了出来。它长呀长呀，长呀长呀，越长越大。
Soon Halloween was just hours away. The witch thought about pumpkin pie and bent down to take her pumpkin off the vine.
转眼间，离万圣节就只剩几个小时了。女巫惦记着南瓜派，她弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
Well, she pulled and she tugged and she pulled. First she pulled hard and then she pulled harder. But that pumpkin just sat.
瞧，她拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。她用力地拉，越来越用力，可那个大南瓜就是不动。
“见鬼！”女巫说。
Just then, along came a ghost.
就在这时，来了一个幽灵。
“好大的南瓜！”幽灵说。
“这个大南瓜是我种的，可连着瓜藤摘不下来，万圣节只剩几个小时了。”女巫说着，踢了大南瓜一脚。
“我块头比你大，力气也比你大，”幽灵自夸道，“让我来试试。”
“哼！”女巫有些不屑。但是一想到南瓜派，她还是让到了一边。

瞧，他拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。他用力地拉，越来越用力，可那个大南瓜就是不动。
“见鬼！”幽灵说。

就在这时，来了一个吸血鬼。
“好大的南瓜！”吸血鬼说。
“这个大南瓜是我种的，可连着瓜藤摘不下来，万圣节只剩几个小时了。”女巫说着，踢了大南瓜一脚。
“我块头比你们大，力气也比你们大，”吸血鬼自夸道，“让我来试试。”
“哼！”女巫说。
“哼！”幽灵说。

女巫没有说话。她看着幽灵，挤挤眼睛。幽灵看着吸血鬼。吸血鬼看着木乃伊。然后他们一起看着小蝙蝠，哈哈大笑起来。
“也许我的块头不大，カ气也不大，”蝙蝠说，“可我有个好办法。”
蝙蝠把他的主意说了出来。
“哼！”女亚说。
“哼！”幽灵说。
“哼！”吸血鬼说。
“哼！”木乃伊说。
但是一想到南瓜派，他们还是弯下腰，想把大南瓜从藤上摘下来。
The bat pulled the mummy, the mummy pulled the vampire, the vampire pulled the ghost, the ghost pulled the witch, and the witch pulled the pumpkin.
Well, they pulled and they tugged and they pulled. First they pulled hard and then they pulled harder. And......
“一、二、三——拉！”蝙蝠喊道。
蝙蝠拽着木乃伊，木乃伊拽着吸血鬼，吸血鬼拽着幽灵，幽灵拽着女巫，女巫拽着大南瓜。
瞧，他们拉呀，拽呀，扯呀。他们用力地拉，越来越用力。
突然——
Snap! Off came the pumpkin！
啪！大南瓜飞了出去！
Whoosh! It flew and it flew and......
“见鬼！”女巫大叫。
嗖——！大南瓜飞呀，飞呀，飞呀……
Thud! It landed on top of a hill and......
砰！落到了一个小山坡顶上……
砰咚咚，砰咚咚，砰咚咚……它一蹦一跳地朝女巫家滚去。滚到家门口时，正好停了下来。
“蝙蝠，你太了不起了！”女巫喊道。她赶紧冲进屋去做南瓜派。
“唔，好吃！”幽灵说。
“再来点！”女巫说。
“实在吃不下了！”吸血鬼说。
“这次聚会真不错！”木乃伊说。
“该回去了。”蝙蝠说。
Then she went right out and planted another pumpkin seed.
“见鬼！”女巫目送着他们离开。
然后，她径直走出门，又种下了一颗南瓜种子。
