作家名片 | 徐则臣：坚守在当下文学前沿，醉心于小说创作

近年来，中华文化“走出去”的影响力不断扩大，在全球文化多元化发展日益兴盛的背景下，中国文化译研网(CCTSS)联合中国作家协会《小说选刊》杂志社，启动“新世纪中国当代作家、作品海外传播数据库”项目，将100位中国当代优秀作家的简介、代表作品以及展示作家风采的短视频翻译为10种语言，集结成1000张中国作家名片向全球推介。千张“作家名片”将鲜明地向世界宣告：我是中国作家，我在进行中国创作。

此种形式和规模是中国故事走向世界的一大创新，会让世界更加全面、客观、公正地了解中国优秀作家作品，同时也是打通中国文化走向世界的“最后一公里”。

徐则臣，男，1978年11月出生于江苏东海。毕业于北京大学中文系，文学硕士。徐则臣被认为是中国“70后作家的光荣”，其作品被认为“标示出了一个人在青年时代可能达到的灵魂眼界”。徐则臣是70后作家的代表人物。徐则臣上大学一年级的时候，就开始写小说了。《如果大雪封门》荣获第六届鲁迅文学奖短篇小说奖。2014年凭借《耶路撒冷》获得老舍文学奖 ，参与编剧的《我坚强的小船》获第四届好莱坞AOF国际电影节外语片奖。2010年参加爱荷华大学国际写作计划（IWP），部分作品被译成德、英、荷、日、蒙等语言。

徐则臣在当下的青年作家中独树一帜，他着力探讨城市与人的关系，他对北京的书写眼光独到且有自己的发现。徐则臣的写作敏锐、精密、质感丰盈，对于现实的观察热诚而冷静。徐则臣书写一代人命运轨迹与精神变迁的作品，与常见的底层叙事不同，徐则臣的小说有自己的气息，他试图用文学的形式，探寻包括自身在内的一代人的焦虑与疑难，同时呈现出中国最近40年社会转型时期的众生相。

从事文学写作以来，已先后出版《午夜之门》《夜火车》《跑步穿过中关村》《如果大雪封门》《王城如海》等二十余部作品。他的小说《天上人间》将“城市边缘人”纳入当代文学的视野中，他呈现了这一类人群的希望与绝望、正大和卑微。他所关注的是与我们时代息息相关的。《耶路撒冷》也曾在每一个章节之后都穿插着一篇总题为《我们这一代》的专栏文章，与小说故事叙述部分交叉推进，以小说主人公初平阳的名义，对一代人的精神困境进行专题探讨。在《王城如海》中，通过形形色色的人物形象，以及不同阶层人物的成长、奋斗，展现出当代中国内在的“断裂”。作品呈现了一种中国式的思维方式，体现了一个人对自我内心之恶的不容忍，希望获得“清洗”、得到救赎的愿望。这种救赎是每一个人的，是一把切入生命咽喉的“剃须刀”，是不断审视和拷问自我灵魂的历程。

对徐则臣而言，写小说仅局限于“写经历”是非常有限的，所以他更偏向于书写“经验”。现今的徐则臣，坚守在当下文学的前沿，醉心于小说的创作。

Xu Zechen

As far as Xu Zechen is concerned, novels should not be limited to writing one's experiences. Instead, Xu prefers to focus on how these experiences mold his characters' perception of the world. To this day, Xu Zechen has continued to stand at the forefront of contemporary literary and remains throughly engrossed in his work as a writer.

Since beginning a career in literature, he has published over 20 works, including Midnight's Door, Night Train, Running Through Zhongguancuan, Should the Snow Block Your Door, and The Imperial City Is Like the Sea. His novel Heaven on Earth places marginal people living in the city within contemporary literature's field of vision, evoking their hopes and despair; their nobility and their pettiness. Xu's works are powerful representations of the age we live in. Jerasulem has also been published with essays on the subject of "Our Generation" interspersed between each of the chapters. These essays, which partially intersect with and contribute to the plot, are are penned by the book's protagnist, Chu Pingyang, and delve into the mental dilemmas of his generation. In The Imperial City is Like the Sea, Xu evokes the "fractured" state of modern Chinese society through stories of growth and hardship featuring colorful characters belonging to different social classes. The novel demonstrates a typically Chinese way of thinking: not being able to stand the evil in his heart, the protagonist hopes to find redemption. This redemption belongs to everyone; it is a blade that cuts into the throat of life itself — a continual process of appraising and interrogating the soul.

Xu Zechen has a unique place among his contemporaries. In his work, he tends to explore the relationship between people and the city. In particular, he offers an original perspective and shares startling insights concerning Beijing. Xu Zechen's writing is precise and highly evocative, featuring heartfelt yet cool-headed observations of modern society. His works describe the tumultuous fate and shifting mentalities of his generation. Xu's narrative style is refreshing and creates a unique literary mood. He uses literature as a means of exploring the anxieties and dilemmas that he shares with other members of his generation. In doing so, he sketches a vivid portrait of the Chinese people during the social transformations of the last 40 years.

Xu Zechen was born in Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, in November 1978. He has a Master's degree in Literature from the Chinese Department of Peking University. Xu Zechen is considered to be one of the most eminent and emblematic Chinese writers born in the 1970s. His early works are thought to demonstrate "the greatest degree of perceptiveness that a person can attain in their youth". He began writing novels in the first year of university. His story Should the Snow Block Your Door won the 6th Lu Xun Prize for Short Fiction. In 2014, his novel Jerusalem was awarded the Lao She Literary Prize. Xu later participated in the adaptation of this novel into the film My Sturdy Little Boat, which won Best Foreign Film at the Action on Film awards in Hollywood. In 2010, he attended the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. His works have been translated into German, English, Dutch, Japanese, Mongolian, and other languages.
