very 和 very much 有相同意思,但是用法相差很大

要大部分区分 very 和 very much,需要知道一个很重要的特性,那就是 very 不修饰动词,而 very much 可以修饰动词,这就是为什么你经常看到 thank you very much,而只有在看错的情况下看到 thank you very.

I am very hungry.
He drives very fast.
The letter came very quickly.
It’s very cold in here.

She is admired by everyone who knows her.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated (by us).
The number of employees was reduced from 40 to 25 (by the company).
She is liked at school.
She is very much admired by everyone who knows her.
She is very admired by everyone who knows her.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated (by us).
Any help you can provide would be very appreciated (by us).
The number of employees was very much reduced from 40 to 25 (by the company).
The number of employees was very reduced from 40 to 25 (by the company).
She is very much liked at school.
She is very liked at school.

I'm very bored.
Nathan's been very depressed for several days.
You looked very disappointed.
I'm very much bored.
Nathan's been very much depressed for several days.
You looked very much disappointed.

She was absolutely furious.
I’m completely exhausted.
This behaviour is totally unacceptable.

Your work is very much better.
London is very much bigger than Naples.
This is the very lowest price I can offer.
Kristin is the very youngest child in the class.

但是当最高级被 the most 修饰时不用 very,而用 by far,例如:
I think watching television is by far the most harmful activity for a child.
I think watching television is the very most harmful activity for a child.
The last of these reasons is by far the most important.
The last of these reasons is the very most important.

1. The man was very dead.
2. She is very married.
3. You're very amazing.
4. The singer is really awful.
5. The film is completely fantastic.
