[语法] as 竟然可以引导定语从句？

看句子：
① As is usual around the world, people love beautiful things.（爱美之心人皆有之）
在这句中，as 是当“关系代词”，是用来代替主句，而不是某个先行词。
可以改成：People love beautiful things, which is usual around the world.
虽然 as 和 which 功能一样，都可以引导非限定性的定语从句，但 as 从句可置于句首，which从句就不能。
再如：
② He was once behind the bars, which was mentioned before. （他曾经坐过牢，这一点之前已提过。）
这句话可以改成：As was mentioned before, he was once behind the bars.
体会一下，这里的 as 指代“他坐过牢”这件事。
最后再强调一下位置的问题：as 引导定语从句时，位置可前可后，而 which 从句只能在后面。
所以上面给出的两个例句，还可以写成：
People love beautiful things, as is usual around the world.
he was once behind the bars, as was mentioned before.
