金秋十月送来满满正能量。
How do you see the world? Do you look at things with a “glass half full” or a “glass half empty” view? If you look at the world “glass half empty”, now is the perfect time for you to change that.
This is because October is Positive Attitude Month. And having a positive attitude is a small way to make big and meaningful changes to your life.
But what exactly does it mean to have a positive attitude? Does it just mean that you have to smile more often? Not quite.
Having a positive attitude shows itself in many ways. For example, being positive can help you expect the best from things and make you more creative when solving problems. It can also motivate you to better yourself and achieve your goals. Overall (总体上), having a positive attitude makes you a more optimistic and happier person.
Just ask Ryan C. Lowe, author of Get Off Your Attitude, about the power of being positive. Lowe is a professional motivational speaker from the US who believes in spreading the importance of positive thinking. Everyone feels negative occasionally no matter how great life can be, but Lowe shares how positive thinking has helped him get through many difficult life events – and even a near-death experience.
“The benefits of having a positive attitude are nearly infinite (无穷的) – in fact no one ever says having a positive attitude causes problems,” Lowe wrote on his blog. “Think about it – when have you ever thought, 'That person’s positive attitude is getting on my nerves (令我心烦)’?”
Having a positive attitude can help you in so many areas of your life. Being positive increases your ability to deal with difficult situations and encourages you to keep moving forward, and it can also help give a boost (增长) to your confidence and self-esteem (自尊心) levels. Keeping a positive mindset gives you better insight into what is really important in life. After all, when you think better, you feel better, and vice versa (反之亦然).
Science seems to support the power of positive thinking, too. Some studies have shown that being positive can reduce your overall stress levels, help fight depression and even increase your life expectancy (预期寿命).
Just like Canadian-American motivational public speaker Brian Tracy explained: “Your life is a reflection of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, you change your life.”
