Mass production of the Model T begins at Ford Motors making Ford one of the most prolific automobiles on the road, and the most affordable. Henry Ford famously said that customers could have the car in any color, as long as it was black.

Why

significant

The Modle T, or “Tin Lizzie”was the first production line automobile which made the car faster and cheaper to make than any of its competition which in turn led to many people being able to afford it.  This began American’s love affair with cars and the feeling of “freedom of the roads” it sponsored.  … even if many of those roads were not yet paved.
