【YOU英语每日一课】学多少不是问题，掌握多少才是问题！

今天我们来学习几个习语表达。为了保证学习效果，我们每天学习的量可以控制不要太多，但是学一个就要掌握一个，这个不容马虎哦！

要掌握学到的内容，唯一的办法就是：Practice! Practice! Practice!

1. make sense 有道理；合情理

否定用法：

don't/doesn’t make sense

make no sense

That makes sense to me.

那样说我听懂了。

This sentence doesn't make sense.

这句话讲不通。

What he said just doesn’t make sense.

他说的话就是没道理。

It doesn’t make sense to buy a new electric cooker while the old one is usable.

旧的电饭锅还能用，何必要买个新的呢。

2. on the dot准时；在指定的时间

I expect to see you here at eight o'clock on the dot.

我期待8点钟准时在这儿见到你。

You've got to be here at 9 on the dot or we won't make the train.

你得9点钟准时赶到这儿，不然我们就赶不及火车了。

A: Mr. King told us to be there on the dot.

B: So we must get going now.

A：金先生让我们准时到那儿。

B：那我们现在就得赶快出发了。

3. cut short中止；打断；缩短

The thunderstorm cut short our picnic.

暴风雨中止了我们的野餐。

She cut her short, saying she'd already heard their story.

她打断了她，说她早已知道他们的事情了。

A: We have to cut this meeting short because I have another appointment.

B: But our problem has not been solved.

A：我们得缩短这个会议，因为我另有约会。

B：可我们的问题还没有解决呢。
