二、每课一句
- Can you type this letter for the boss please, Pamela? - Yes, of course I can.
本课重点学习的语法内容仍然是情态动词can的用法，只不过本课侧重的是can表“可以”的用法，主要用来表达许可。
其基本用法为：
sb. can do sth.
某人会做某事
如：
You can go home now.
你现在可以回家了。
含有情态动词can的句子，如果变否定句，只要在can后面加not即可。需要注意的是，can和not要合起来写，或者缩略为can't，不能写作can not。如：
You cannot / can't go home now.
你现在不能回家。
如果要变为一般疑问句，只要把can提到句首即可。如：
- Can I go home now?
— 我现在可以回家了吗？
- Yes, you can. / No, you can't.
— 是的，你可以回家了。/ 不，你不能回家。
其特殊疑问句的用法为：
特殊疑问词+can+其他成分
如：
When can I go home?
我什么时候可以回家？

Yes? What's the matter?
注意“Yes?”在朗读时要用升调，用来表达说话者的疑问。
此外，“What's the matter?”是简略提问，是Bob用来问Pamela的，所以其完整形式为“What's the matter, Pamela?”。
“What's the matter, ...?”这种提问方式，是用来询问对方，出了什么事，但出事的不一定是对方。
还有一种相关的问法是：
What's the matter with ..., ...?
在这种问法情况下，提问者是问对方（第二个省略号处代表的人），第三方（第一个省略号代表的人或物）出了什么问题。此外，口语中经常会省略掉第二个省略号所代表的人，因为它就是说话者面对的对方。
但是，有的时候with后面也会接you，此时提问者就是问跟自己对话的对方出了什么问题。

1. What's the matter, Andy?
安迪，你怎么了？（问安迪本人怎么了）
怎么了，安迪？（不一定问安迪本人怎么了）
2. What's the matter with you, Andy?
安迪，你怎么了？（问安迪本人怎么了）
3. What's the matter with Jane, Andy?
安迪，简怎么了？（问简怎么了）
