“They say that a person's personality is the sum of their experiences. But that isn't true, at least not entirely, because if our past was all that defined us, we'd never be able to put up with ourselves. We need to be allowed to convince ourselves that we're more than the mistakes we made yesterday. ”
personality,experience,our past
动作:define
experiences=our past ➡️ personality
can't define
Our past can't define us.
➡️ past can't define us, more than the mistakes
✳️Summary
Our past can't define us, because our choices for future also count(are equally important).
“They say that a person's personality is the sum of their experiences. But that isn't true, at least not entirely, because if our past was all that defined us, we'd never be able to put up with ourselves. We need to be allowed to convince ourselves that we're more than the mistakes we made yesterday. That we are all of our next choices, too, all of our tomorrows.”
―Fredrik Backman, Anxious People
✳️Further thoughts:
Our choices are also possibilities, and we can create numerous of them each moment.
✳️Lessons I will Apply in Real Life
✳️Other viewpoints / Further reading
✳️Lessons I will Apply in Real Life:...
✳️Further thoughts:Our choices are also possibilities, and we can create numerous of them each moment.
✳️Summary: Our past can't define us, because our choices for future also count(are equally important).
―Fredrik Backman, Anxious People
✳️Other viewpoints / Further reading
