英语连词：表示连接单词、短语或句子的一种词，是一种虚词

英语连词不能独立担任句子成分，只起连接词与词、短语与短语以及句与句的作用。

英语连词分两类：并列连词 和 从属连词

英语连词的用法：

1、英语并列连词：
A: and 连接单词 My sister and I study in the same school.
B: and 连接短语Our knowledge may come from the books and from practice.
C: and 连接句子We are singing and they are dancing.
D: but但是/而是 I have a pen but no pencil

or或者 Will you go there by bus or on foot
E: nothing but除了，只有 I did nothing but watch it.
F：or表示否则 Hurry up or you will be late.
G: for表示因为He is good at math for he studies harder than others.

2、英语从属连词：
A：after表示“时间”，在…之后
After I finished the school，I became a engineer in the factory.
B：although/though 表示让步，“尽管”

Although she is young，she knows a lot.
C：as表示时间，“当…时”，方式“象…”，原因，“由于、因为”让步，“尽管、虽然”
As it was late，we must go now
D：as if / as though表方式，“似乎、好像”
He told is such a story as though he had been there before.
E：as long as / so long as表条件，“只要”

As long as I am free，I’ll go to help you
F：as soon as表时间，“一…就…”

I will phone you as soon as I come back
G：because表原因，“因为”

I have to stay in bed because I am ill.
H: before表时间，“在…之前“
