Well, as much as I love my country, it's hard to deny that, when traveling around China, one of the primary complaints I hear from tourists has to do with the large crowds. Not only has foreign tourism in China grown at a rapid pace, so has domestic tourism and with a population of more than 1.4 million people. May 20 is like a modern Valentine's Day as the homophonic in Chinese sounds like I love you. And on that day, we decided to go check out the 798 art district.

There's more to Beijing than ancient history, and this exciting arts district proves it. Housed in former factories, these shops and galleries feature the work of local up-and-coming modern artists. It's really nice to take some time browsing in UCCA, one of Beijing's preeminent modern art museums, and then grab a bite in one of the district's many cafes and eateries. China's largest cities are called 'mega-cities'with tens of millions of people.China's crowds sometimes prevent people from wanting to visit. If you're claustrophobic, or have any aversion to being jostled you might find it hard to visit big cities. Crowds are just something the average citizen or expat in China has to get used to.
