Ground-glass opacity is a nonspecific term that refers to the presence of a hazy increase in lung opacity on HRCT that, somewhat arbitrarily, is not associated with obscuration of underlying vessels or bronchial margins; if vessels are obscured, the term consolidation is generally used. This finding can reflect the presence of a number of abnormalities and can be seen in patients with airspace disease, interstitial thickening, partial alveolar collapse (atelectasis), increased capillary blood volume, or a combination of these.

【HRCT Findings: Parenchymal Opacification
