Soulmate

桃花在两岸各开各的花

相互叫不出对方的名字

一千年了，开心就开花，悲伤也开花

凭着相同的气息遥相知音

Peach trees blossom on both banks of the river.

They fail to greet each other by the name.

Over a thousand years, they blossom when they feel happy,

And blossom too when they’re stuck with sorrow.

The same breath pulls together two resonant souls.

在岳阳怀甫亭，风不断地吹，吹散了多少人

说出的豪言壮语

茅屋折叠的柴火，古井涌现的梦想

都被石磨盘一一磨平

万物失踪。假象，都是飞鸟的隐身

At the Huaifu Pavilion in Yueyang,

The wind never stops blowing, blowing away

The heroic remarks from so many people’s mouths.

Firewood piled in the thatched cottage, dreams bubbling from the ancient well,

Were all grinded into small pieces by the stone mill.

悲吟的人，欢唱的人，都是一张废纸

后来才被证实

走出来的路，都还给了路

These who chanted sadly or sang joyfully,

Ended up in a scrap of paper.

It was afterwards proven

That all the roads taken became new roads again.

就像我的诗，先是在地上大胆分行

最后小心翼翼埋在地下

给更微小的生命宽宽心

比如给虫蚁，一个停顿的想象

Like my poems, which boldly leave lines on the ground,

And at last carefully bury them inside the soil.

This’s to comfort the even tinier living creatures,

For example, to give worms and ants an interrupted imagination.
