CLINICAL NUTRITION WEEK 2016
Austin, TX, January 16-19, 2016
Dear Colleague,
On behalf of everyone at A.S.P.E.N., welcome to Austin for Clinical Nutrition Week 2016! We are thrilled you have joined us for this life-changing experience.
The annual cost of disease-associated malnutrition is $156.7 billion and WE are the ones who can make a difference. You've demonstrated your commitment to being the change we need just by registering for and participating in CNW16, and we are so happy you are here. The CNW16 Program Committee, chaired by Roland Dickerson, PharmD, FASPEN, worked very hard to provide you with sessions that respond directly to your unique needs—no matter your discipline. Over the next 4 days, you have the opportunity to attend many sessions that will provide you with knowledge and resources that you can immediately take back and apply to your patient care.
Our jobs are important, ever-changing, and incredibly busy, and I assure you it is not lost on anyone the sacrifices you had to make to be able to attend this conference. The clinical nutrition community appreciates your willingness to do so because it is imperative that we continue to learn from each other, expand our networks, and keep striving for improved patient care.
We are just a few weeks into 2016, and it is already shaping up to be a gamechanging year for A.S.P.E.N. In the coming year, you can expect to see the following from us:
Additional efforts related to making optimal nutrition care a National Patient Safety Goal
Can't-miss educational opportunities for the SCCM/A.S.P.E.N. Guidelines for the Adult Critically Ill Patient and EN safety
International outreach and initiatives, including a new International Clinical Nutrition Section, which is meeting for the first time here at CNW16
ISO enteral connector education to coincide with the mandated transition to the new connectors
A 2016 clinical nutrition webinar series that will cover timely and critical issues, and, new this year, Section-hosted webinars that will be free to members
Building on the tremendous success of the 2015 Malnutrition Awareness Week, increased national and global expansion and awareness of this crucial initiative
CNW16 is a great way to kick off an exciting year for all of us. I look forward to collaborating with each of you here in Austin.
Sincerely,
Gordon Sacks, PharmD, BCNSP, FCCP
President, A.S.P.E.N.
