说别人「胖了」千万不要随便用'fat'!

即将放假了！又可以开始睡懒觉吃零食追剧的快乐生活了，但是，也要控制小心长胖呀！

今天西外君就来跟大家说说长胖的一些表达，蓝瘦啊！

get fat

最简单的，说到胖大家都能想到的单词想必就是 fat 了，不过大家要注意的是，用 fat 说别人胖，略微有点不太礼貌。英文当中，fat 是一个比较含有歧视和偏见的词，多表示死肥仔，形容愚笨的人，大家用的时候注意说话语气。

People tend to get fat as they grow older.

人们上了岁数就容易发胖.

下面这些表达可以代替 fat 来说自己或别人胖了。

put on weight

put on 除了指穿戴（衣服、帽子）、涂抹（化妆品）外，还可以指体重的增加，后面跟 weight（重量）。

I had put on weight after having our daughter, so I felt incredibly worthless.

生完女儿后我的体重增加，产生了难以置信的自卑感。

I can eat what I want but I never put on weight. 
我想吃什么就能吃什么，而体重从不增加。（羡慕吗？）

gain weight

我们来看一下 gain 的几种意思：

（尤指经过一段时间逐渐）取得，获得，赢得，博得

增加；增长（to increase  in weight , speed , height , or amount ）

（钟或表）走快

gain weight 长胖了，体重增加。（脂肪增加duck不必

）

I gained a lot of weight  while I was on holiday .

我休假期间体重大增。

bulk up

这是一种比较理想的长肉啦！If someone bulks up of if they bulk up their body,they put on weight in the form of extra muscle.

增加体重来健身、塑造肌肉线条，bulk up 指强壮、粗壮。

My friend is obsessed with going to the gym and has really bulked up her arms.

我朋友迷上了去健身房，她确实把胳膊练得粗壮了。

plump out

说到这，趣多多又想到了一种表达，说一个人比较丰腴、胖乎乎的，大家可以用 plump 来表示。

His cheeks are beginning to plump out.

他的面颊开始变得圆起来了。

fatten somebody up

fatten 养肥；使肥沃；使充实

fatten sb up 则指“使变胖，使变肥”。

She s very thin after her illness-but we’ll soon fatten her up.

她病后瘦的很-不过我们会使她迅速胖起来的。
