If someone is experiencing a bad situation, telling them to hang in there means "keep trying; do not give up; be patient and things will eventually get better."

如果你的朋友遇上了什么坏事,那么告诉TA"hang in there"吧!这句话的意思是,继续努力,别放弃,耐心点,事情到最后都会变好的。

If something blew you away, it means it completely amazed you.

If you miss the boat, it means you are too late to get the opportunity, so you lose the chance to participate.

你来得太晚了。你已经没有机会参与了。

On the wrong foot

例句:We got off on the wrong boot.

This phrase means starting something in a bad way. It is often used when two people meet for the first time and have some sort of misunderstanding of disagreement.

这个短语的意思是有一个糟糕的开端。经常被用在两个人初次见面但产生了一些不和、误会时。

Freak out

例句:Everybody is freaking out.

To freak out means to panic or become very upset or agitated.

变得非常惊慌或生气。

Rusty

例句:I haven't done this in a long time. I am rusty.

You used to have good skills or ability to do something, but you haven't done this activity in a long time. Now you are not as good at it because you are out of practice.

这句话不是说你是钢铁侠!而是说你有一个本事,但是你好久没用了,现在就渐渐生疏了。也就是“一天不练手脚慢,两天不练丢一半,三天不练门外汉,四天不练瞪眼看”的意思。

To pitch in means to join an effort and help with something, usually a project that has multiple people working on it.

beat, hit the sack

例句:I am beat. Time to hit the sack.

Saying you are beat is a slang way to say you're tired, and hit the sack means to go to bed.

Be beat是一种“我很累”的俚语说法。Hit the sack指去睡觉。
