课上,他们主动回答问题并积极参与小组讨论,自信地用英文表达自己的观点;课外,他们踊跃参与活动和比赛,在全校的英语文学周的辩论、演讲、写作及英语单词拼写比赛中勇夺佳绩。他们还代表德胜学校(国际)在德胜文化艺术晚会中,完美演绎了原创英文音乐剧——《家》。七年级学生的活泼和自信给全校师生留下了深刻的印象。
It is unbelievable that they have adapted to the English-speaking environment and all made remarkable improvements both in exams and language usage in just a few months.
They are able to confidently express their ideas when answering questions and engage in group discussions. Theyhavealsotaken active part in various English-speaking activities and competitions in school. During the English Literacy Week 2019, they received outstanding achievements in the debate, public speaking, fiction writing, and spelling competitions. Our talented grade 7s also successfully performed leading roles in the Desheng Night 2020original musical Home. Anyone who meets our G7 students is greatly impressed by the liveliness and confidence they exhibit when expressing themselves in English.

七年级基础课程的英语教师灵活利用教材,他们以学生为中心,在多媒体教学工具的帮助下采用以下的教学方法引导学生学习。
跨学科教学:学生在英语学习的过程中需要与其他不同的学科建立联系,例如研学课程(国内研学项目课程)就结合了英语、中文及历史等科目进行教学。
分层教学:七年级每学期至少进行两周的分层教学课程,教师因材施教,根据学生不同的学习能力科学分组,并针对学生不同的学习需求和目标进行教学。
同伴互助教学:这是使互动教学课堂顺利进行的一个关键要素。每个英语学习小组的成员学习能力各异,老师鼓励小组内语言能力较强的学生当小组长,并担负起帮助语言能力较弱的学生提高英语水平的责任。
DSI Foundation English teachers design their own teaching resources, and use student-centric pedagogies to engage the students in the classroom with multimedia learning aids. The following are the teaching methods applied in class:
Interdisciplinary learning:students are required to build connections between different subjects. For example, the LEP program incorporates English, Chinese, history, etc.
Differentiated learning: there are at least two weeks of differentiated learning for G7 students. Students are grouped into different classes based on their various learning abilities with designated teaching resources aiming at their different studying needs and goals.
Peer support: this pedagogy is considered to be a key success factor in the unit. The students in each class are organized in groups of varying learning abilities. In their groups, students with higher language competency have the responsibility to help the students with lower language competency to achieve better performance both in class and after class.

英文部是德胜学校(国际)的核心部门,除了进行英语语言的四个微观技能(听说读写)教学外,还负责通过教学实践、评估测试、使用与时俱进的语言学习材料来培养学生的全球公民意识。同时,各个年级的学习也强调培养批判性思维和媒体读写能力。
七至八年级的英语课程由国际部内部整合,让孩子们不仅能为后续更高阶的语言学习打好基础,也能够在其他学科中融合英语语言知识,确保横向发展。
九至十年级的课程采用剑桥国际IGCSE高中基础学历课程(英文课程包括英文为第一语言及英文为第二语言),十一年级和十二年级的课程采用国际文凭组织大学预科课程(IBDP的英语课程),使得学生能够分别获得国际认可的初中和高中文凭。
德胜学校(国际)的英语教学还使用种类、体裁多样的当代语言材料,这些材料适合学生的年龄,且文本内容相互关联,这能够更好地帮助学生了解世界,多角度理解问题。
持续性的基于项目的学习方法能确保学生巩固基础知识,并且应用从其他学科领域获得的知识技能。英文部全体老师以提升可视化教学为己任,全力培养学生的语言能力。
The English Department is the heart of English instruction in DSI. The department not only teaches the four micro-skills of the English language but is also responsible for promoting global citizenship by giving its learners access to pedagogical practices, assessment measures, and materials that are relevant in the present-day society. Critical viewing and media literacy are also emphasized across the grades.
Internally developed curricula for Grades 7 and 8 are not only articulated to align with the higher-level English subjects but are also incorporated into the content of other subjects to ensure horizontal alignment.
The Cambridge English subjects (IGCSE First Language English and IGCSE English as a Second Language for Grades 9 and 10) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme English courses for Grades 11 and 12 allow students to earn their middle school and high school certifications, respectively. Various literary and contemporary texts of different genres are used to help students question the world and to raise critical issues that are age-appropriate and contextually relevant.
The project-based learning approach is constantly practiced to ensure students consolidate and apply various skills gained from other subject areas. The faculty of the English Department aims to promote Visible Learning in all its pedagogical endeavors.
